ACC reaffirms commitment to graft fight

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Board Chairperson, Justice Timothy Kabalata says the commission will not relent in fighting corruption but will continue to exercise its mandate as provided for under the Anti Corruption Act No.3 of 2012.

Speaking during the launch of the 2013 to 2016 Anti Corruption Commission Strategic Plan in Lusaka on March 14th, Justice Kabalata says the Strategic plan is an important tool which provides a clear course of action the institution will take in order to achieve its set strategic objectives in the medium term.

Justice Kabalata says the commission has over the years continued to seriously reflect on measures needed to address the problems of corruption in Zambia.

He says the commission has continued to bring on board inputs and perspectives of stakeholders including the views of the general public in coming up with mechanisms of addressing the scourge of corruption.

Justice Kabalata has also praised President Michael Sata for his continued support and commitment to the fight against corruption.

Speaking at the same event, ACC Director General, Rosewin Wandi, said as part of the review process, a performance audit was conducted by the Commission in consultation with the Public Management Development Division, and other stakeholders with the objective of establishing the extent to which the commission had implemented the previous Strategic Plan.

Speaking earlier, Cabinet Office Permanent Secretary, Ndashe Yumba,says the launch of the strategic plan by ACC is a clear demonstration that the Commission’s leadership is focused to fight corruption.

He has since implored other institutions and government ministries to emulate the ACC and come up with clear plans of operation.
