Felix Katongo ruled of Uganda-Zambia clash

Lusaka, February 27, 2014, ZANIS—Green Buffaloes midfielder Felix Katongo has become the third player to be ruled out the Uganda-Zambia friendly match next month at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.

Coach Patrice Beaumelle has disclosed that Katongo will not be in the team that will face the Cranes in the coming friendly game because of his official duty at Zambia Army.

“You can see Felix is not here, he is likely to miss the friendly because he is on official duty with his employers the Zambia Army,” Beaumelle said.

According to MTN football and monitored by ZANIS Sports, Katongo is reported to be on duty with the Zambia Army where he is a regular soldier.

“The problem is I don’t know very well what it means when you are on duty with the army. So if he is not training I prefer the younger players for now but he is still very part of our team,” Beaumelle explained.

Katongo joins China and Holland based James Chamanga and Jacob Mulenga who will not be part of the Chipolopolo squad to face Uganda due to injuries.

Beaumelle has however confirmed that defence kingpin Stopilla Sunzu is expected to be part of the team after recovering from an injury at French club Sochaux.

Patrice also revealed that Felix’s brother and Zambian captain Christopher Katongo is part of the team which he joined in camp on Tuesday afternoon.
