Councilors appeal for monthly payments

Solwezi, February 25, 2014, ZANIS…. Councilors in Mwinilunga district have appealed to the minister of local government and housing Emerine Kabanshi to honour the pledge she made to the councilors on 25th December 2013 to put councilors on monthly payments.

Kakoma ward councilor Jonathan Chinyimba says since Ms. Kabanshi had recently pledged to revise the allowances for councilors her ministry had better consider the matter with the urgency it deserves.

Councilor Chinyimba wondered whether the minister was merely politicking or telling the truth. He said this in an interview with ZANIS in Solwezi today.

He  emphasized that the minister should fulfill her promise as councilors were always with the people implementing government programmes hence the need to honor their sacrifices.

He added that members of parliament should be seen to be backing councilors and not remain mute.

And Kakoma School which has been upgraded to a secondary school is being manned by only four (4) teachers who teach grades 8 to 11. Mr. Chinyimba has since made a strong appeal to the government to normalize the situation.
