Luangeni receives relief food
Chipata, February 24, 2014, ZANIS….Government through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has released 200 by 50 kilogram bags of relief maize to Luangeni constituency in Chipata district of Eastern Province.
Luangeni Member of Parliament Charles Zulu told ZANIS in Chipata this morning that the relief maize will be distributed among the vulnerable groups in the constituency.
He stated that the exercise will also be done with the help of the Ministry of Community Development and Social Welfare that would assist in selecting beneficiaries of the maize.
Mr Zulu who is also Energy Deputy Minister noted that the release of the maize follows his application to the Office of the Vice President after calls for relief food by people of Khova ward in Masiwa area.
He disclosed that the relief maize has since been delivered to Chipata and that the constituency is currently awaiting Chipata District Commissioner Kalunga Zulu to appoint a partner that will help with the distribution exercise.
Mr Zulu is hopeful that the distribution exercise will start next week on Monday.
