Colleagues, I am deeply saddened at the passing of a good friend and old Comrade of mine, Mr. Willa D. Mung’omba, Executive Chairman of the Board at ZCCM Investments Holdings PLC, who died in South Africa yesterday.

The late Mung’omba was a distinguished lawyer and business executive of many years. I have personally known Willa over the years, as a composed, soft-spoken, devoted patriot and intellectual hub who served this country with utmost sincerity and enthusiasm.

Willa leaves behind a rich legacy of promoting democracy, good governance and upholding peace and stability among the people of Zambia.

No doubt, several upcoming leaders in this country and beyond depended on him for wisdom and illumination, particularly that he carried with him vast knowledge and experience. Indeed, this loss will be keenly felt not only by the Mung’omba family but by many Zambians around the country and abroad.

I kindly convey on behalf of the People and Government of Zambia, the First Lady and indeed on my own behalf, heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the Mung’omba family.

Our departed colleague and brother gallantly served this country during his distinguished career. Therefore, his illustrious services will be deeply missed by all of us. We beseech the Almighty God to grant the bereaved family comfort and strength as they face this tragic loss. MHSRIP -MCS – 18/02/14
