Kasama DC Munalisa disappointed by service providers in the area

Government says it disappointed with the three mobile service providers for their failure to attend an emergency district meeting in Kasama.

And Airtel Zonal Business Manager Adrian Munalisa says his company was ready to work closely with the government.

Kasama District Commissioner Kalanga Bwalya says he is disappointed that the trio failed to attend the meeting despite inviting them earlier.

Mr. Bwalya said he summoned the mobile providers to the meeting to discuss issues on the provision of mobile services in areas are not accessible in some parts of the district.

ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this in a statement released in Kasama District, today.

He noted that this is very disappointing as none of them gave an apology as to why they did not attend the meeting.

The District Commissioner said that such kind of behavior from service providers shall not be tolerated as this is equal to disrespect of authority.

Mr. Bwalya emphasized that such meetings are very important as mobile network is very vital in communities and helps in times of emergencies.

And when contacted for a comment Airtel Zonal Business Manager Adrian Munalisa said the network provider is willing to work closely with the government.

Mr. Munalisa however said he did not attend the meeting as he saw the notice quite late.

And MTN Service Center Controller Moses Tembo said the network provider will send an official apology letter to the DCs office as the manager who was supposed to attend the meeting is out of town on duty.

Meanwhile Zamtel Regional Manager Choongo Katapa said that he had sent in an official apology to the DC for his absence as he was committed to other equally important national duties in the area.

Last year on the 15^th of February, Kasama District Commissioner Kalanga Bwalya had a meeting with mobile service providers to discuss and submit areas that are not covered by mobile phone networks.
