Nchanga Rangers striker Bornwell Mwape has secured a trial stint at Swedish club Malmo.

The striker will be at Malmo for a month.

Nchanga president Blackwell Siwale said they were delighted to have secured a trial for the 22-year-old Zambia striker who began his career at the Chingola club.

“We are very optimistic he will make it because as a club we were reluctant to send to our player to our regional neighbors because the level of football is no different from ours. Probably what is different is the financial aspect of it,” Siwale said.

Mwape had earlier reportedly attracted interest from South African PSL clubs that Nchanga is said to have rejected.

“We are excited as a club to see that the boy has gone to Europe and we are very positive he will make it,” Siwale said.

“We have done this so that the player goes from a level at which we are to another level that is not available in the regional circles.”

Mwape has 13 caps for Zambia and has scored five goals including a brace on his debut last April 28, 2013 in a 2-0 friendly win over Zimbabwe.

And Mwape was Nchanga’s top scorer last season with 13 goals.
