—-Kaputa District Commissioner (DC), Chrispine Kachusha, has called on  government  Heads of Departments (HODs) to familiarise themselves with the code of ethics and other relevant guidelines in the public service.

Mr Kachusha said it is important for HODs to know the guidelines to enable them execute their duties effectively.

He noted that as controlling officers, HODs should know the terms and conditions of services, code of ethics and be conversant with the disciplinary code and procedures for handling offences in the public service.

Mr Kachusha said this when he opened a training workshop for government Heads of Departments held in the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Conference room yesterday.

The DC said he was prompted to hold the workshop after observing the lack of implementation of the guidelines by some HODs.

Mr Kachusha said he has received numerous reports of indiscipline of subordinates but no action has been taken as the HODs lack knowledge on how to handle the cases.

He has since challenged the HODs that he would now expect them to work effectively and deal with all matters of concerns after they had been enlightened.

Mr Kachusha said he will not tolerate HODs who will fail to carry out his mandate as doing so also constituted to misconduct.
