—-Police in Lusaka have summoned and interrogated Former Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba’s Wife Chama and daughter Thandiwe over the tender to supply wooden poles to ZESCO.

Mrs Mwamba and the daughter arrived at Woodlands Police Station at 10:10hrs in the company of GBM and other family members and were separately interrogated for about 50 minutes.

Speaking after the questioning, Mrs Mwamba said the interrogations went on well and that she was being questioned in her capacity as a Director of Arizona Marketing and Distributors over the tender they had with ZESCO.

Mrs Mwamba said the Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) had cleared the case last year hence she does not know how why the same issue has resurfaced.

And when contacted for a comment, Police Spokesperson Charity Munganga said a warn and caution statement has been recorded from GBM’s wife and daughter for 6 counts each over the contract to supply 9, 10 and 12 meter wooden poles to ZESCO alleged to have been committed between April 1 and November 30 2012.

Ms Munganga said the two in their capacity as directors/partners of Arizona Marketing and distributors are alleged to have committed three counts of uttering a false document contrary to the laws of Zambia involving manufacturers authorisation, company profile and pole specifications to the Zambia Public Procurement Authority and ZESCO purporting them to have been issued by Board Timber Limited of Zimbabwe.

Ms Munganga further said the duo were also warned and cautioned for two counts of making a false document namely a company profile for Boarder Timbers and poles specifications purporting that they were issued from Boarder Timbers when they were infact not.

She added that in the last count, Chama and Thandiwe are alleged to have forged two manufacturers authorisation documents contrary to section 342 of Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia purporting that they were issued by Boarder Timbers Limited.

Ms Munganga said no formal charge has been made against Mrs Mwamba and her daughter Thandiwe as investigations had continued.

And Mr. Mwamba who accompanied his wife and daughter told journalists that he can brag that he is popular everywhere as he has a lot of support not only from PF but other political parties.

Meanwhile, there was tight security at Woodlands Police station when Mrs Mwamba and her daughter were being questioned as their supporters chanted slogans.
