–Former Cabinet Minister during the MMD, reign Peter Muchungwa, says the newly formed alliance by opposition Alliance for a Better Zambia, MMD and People’s Party will not work.

Dr Muchungwa, who is also former Patriotic Front ‘rebel’ and losing MMD Kabwata parliamentary candidate, says alliances in this country have been there before and collapsed because of selfish leaders and interests.

Dr Muchungwa says ABZ, MMD and PP are just wasting people’s time by derailing attention from the real development the Government has embarked on.

He was speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka over the weekend.

Fr Frank Bwalya, Dr Nevers Mumba and Mr Mike Mulongoti have formed a political alliance with the view to woo Zambian people to reject the Patriotic Front but historically former alliances formed in Zambia have never worked.

But MMD Deputy Spokesperson, Chembe Nyangu, defended the alliance and urged the people of Zambia to give it time instead of basing on history.

Mr Nyangu argued that the three opposition political parties in the alliance were very strong.

He said with time, the cadres from various political parties would appreciate and join it.
