CHIEF Mumena of the Kaonde-speaking people in Solwezi has urged the Government to sign the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) for Lumwana to accelerate infrastructure development in the area.
Chief Mumena said since the IDP was not signed by the Government, it was hampering infrastructure development in Lumwana.
He said it was sad to note that since 2008 the IDP had not been signed, saying that it was important for the Government to speed up its implementation.
Speaking at the National Savings and Credit Bank (Natsave) Lumwana branch in Solwezi, Chief Mumena said Government should expedite the process of signing of the Integrated Development Plan for Lumwana for Lumwana to develop further.
He said the implementation of the IDP would help supplement Government’s efforts in infrastructure development.
“In line with the support for infrastructure you may be aware we have an Integrated Development Plan for Lumwana area which has been in a draft form since 2008. This is supposed to help this area have more infrastructure, housing and other services.
“This integrated plan up to now has not been signed by Government and this is hampering infrastructure development,” Chief Mumena said.
He said apart from signing the IDP the Government should also ensure that the economic zone was connected to the national grid.
