Mwale becomes Copperbelt Province PF Chairman

MASAITI District Chairperson Stardy Mwale has is the new Patriotic Front (PF) Copperbelt provincial chairperson to head new provincial executive ushered into office yesterday.

 

Mr. Mwale polled 293 votes against his closed contender Richard Musukwa who managed to poll 222 votes.

 

ZANIS reports from Ndola that in the women’s wing Hildah Kawesha won the position of chairlady with 177 votes against her rival Mary Banda who is the former chairlady for Copperbelt who managed 113 votes.

 

In the youth wing Luashya mayor Nathan Chanda has won the position of youth chairperson with 337 votes against Jonas Kalyati who polled 140 votes.

 

There was jubilation after Mr. Mwale lead team managed to win all the positions except for the position of Vice youth Information and Publicity Secretary which was won by Mr. Musukwa’s team.

 

And newly elected youth chairperson Mr. Chanda pledged to work with all the youths in the province despite their political affiliation.

 

Mr. Chanda said he would ensure that youths in the province access youth empowerment funds and that he will not allow them to be used as instruments of violence by any leader.

 

Youth and Sport Minister Chishimba Kambwili said he is happy that the team headed by Mr. Mwale had won the elections.

 

He said the previous executive was selfish and caused a lot of problems in the province for the PF party.

 

And police sources at the center said the elections were generally violent free but confirmed that six cadres who were causing confusion during the elections had been detained.
