POLICE in Serenje have arrested a 28-year-old herbalist for allegedly defiling two girls, both aged 15 and from the same family.
Central Province commissioner of police Standwell Lungu, who confirmed this in Kabwe yesterday, identified the herbalist as Mackson Mwiinga.
Mr Lungu said Mwiinga allegedly defiled the two girls separately when they were sent by their mother to collect money for a goat he had bought from her.
Mr Lungu said the incident happened on Tuesday around 14:00 hours in Chitangwa   in Chief Chibale’s area, and that the suspect would be charged with two counts of defilement.
He explained that the herbalist asked one of the girls to follow him in his house to collect the money but defiled and threatened her against telling anyone.
Mwiinga later asked the other girl who had remained outside to follow him in the house where he allegedly had carnal knowledge of her.
Mr Lungu said police arrested Mwiinga and remanded him in custody.
In another incident, police in Kabwe are investigating a case in which a Lusaka-based taxi driver was robbed of his Toyota Ipsum, registration number ALL 2815, by a man who had hired him from Lusaka.
Mr Lungu said the car was stolen at Sam’s Car Wash in Kabwe where the taxi driver stopped briefly.
