-Zesco has expressed concern over continued vandalism of its property.

Zesco Public Relations Officer, Henry Kapata, has observed that there is an increase in incidences of people draining oil from transformers in some selected parts of Lusaka.

Mr Kapata said there is a group of people who has been going round some selected areas around Lusaka draining oil from transformers in the night.

He told ZANIS in an interview that currently Roma and Kalundu are off power supply because the transformers are down after some oil was drained from the transformers yesterday.

Mr Kapata stated that the oil acts as a cooling agent in transformers hence the absence of the oil that was being drained will lead to the transformers being damaged.

He observed that the draining of oil from transformers was retrogressive to his company which has been working hard to ensure that things were in order.

Mr Kapata said Zambia Police were working in collaboration with the Zesco internal security in searching for the people who were behind the draining of oil from transformers in the night.

He has since appealed to the general public to help in tracing the unknown group of people who were behind the draining of oil from the transformers so that they can be apprehended and handed over to the courts of law.
