Strong marriages are a cornerstone of national building -Lungu

Defence Minister Edgar Lungu says strong marriages play an important role in national building.

Mr Lungu says it is for this reason that married couples should view marriage as a lifelong commitment to each other.

The Defence Minister was speaking at the Zambia Army Banquet hall in Lusaka last evening wherehe was Guest of Honour at the wedding ceremony for the Army Commander’s daughter Chisola Mihova who married Kelvin Zangata.

Mr Lungu said the sacrament of marriage union is a covenant and not a contract that can be terminated by either party at any time.

He called on the couple to safe guard their marriage and maintain a high level of fidelity.

And the father to the bride General Paul Mihova urged the couple to stick to their vows and include God in their marriage.

General Mihova said a strong marriage is one established on biblical principles.
