Zambia national team coach Patrice Beaumelle has urged clubless Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo to find a club very soon.

Katongo is clubless after dumping promoted Chinese club Henan Jianye whom he joined three seasons ago from Greek club Xanthi.

The striker is currently training with his ex-FAZ Super League club Green Buffaloes in Lusaka since leaving Henan at the end of the 2013 Chinese season in October.

“I went to see Christopher Katongo who is with Green Buffaloes,” Beaumelle said.

“I told him that if you don’t find a club, maybe sign with a Zambian club and play competitive football.”

Beaumelle added that he was also closely monitoring the recovery of players like striker Jacob Mulenga of Dutch club FC Utrecht and midfielder Mukuka Mulenga from South African club Mamelodi Sundowns who are both sidelined on long injury lay offs.

“I never said that I won’t consider any players who are not playing but of course I would like all the players to be playing competitive football because for me to be at international level you have to be playing regular competitive club football,” Beaumelle said.

Beaumelle took charge of Zambia last October after his mentor and ex-boss Herve Renard quit the post to take up an appointment at French Ligue One club Sochaux.
