Unknown people in Chembe District in Luapula Province have removed the Auto Industrial Cell worth K2, 750 at Mwanawasa Bridge.
Disclosing the act of vandalism to ZANIS in Mansa, Luapula Province Police Commissioner, Malcolm Mulenga, said an Auto Industrial Cell which automatically switches power on and off at the bridge was stolen between December 20, 2013 and January 28, 2014.

Mr Mulenga said the matter came to the attention of the police when Kamwi Sinvula, 49, an employee at Chembe District Council reported the matter to police.

Meanwhile, Congolese soldiers and their fisheries counterpart have apprehended two Zambian fishermen for fishing during the fish ban period.

Mr Mulenga named the two as Kashiba Chansa, 38, and John Mpundu, 48, both of Lwafwe village in Chief Lukwesa’s area in Mwense district.
He said the duo was arrested near Muyangala Fishing Camp along the Luapula River on the Zambian side, adding that the Congolese soldiers seized the fishing net they were using.

He said the duo has since been arrested and taken to Chisenga Island and have been told to pay K300 before they are released.
