Government has deployed 22 new nurses at Kasama General Hospital to beef up the working staff at the institution.
Kasama General Hospital Medical Superintendent Elijah Mutoloki said the move has cushioned on the shortage of medical staff at the institution.

Dr. Mutoloki said this in an interview with ZANIS in Kasama recently.

He said the hospital is happy with the development as more nurses are expected to be sent to the institution.

And Kasama General Hospital Senior Nursing Officer Ethel Zulu commended government for coming to their aid by employing new nurses at the institution.

Ms. Zulu said the hospital was facing challenges of manpower especially that the hospital is the only referral centre in Northern Province.

She added that the institution relied on nursing students who help in offering health care to patients.

Ms. Zulu noted that student nurses will now concentrate more on their studies as they are not required to work but observe the working staff.
