Unknown people steal bale of blankest for vulnerable people in Mbala.

 

Mbala, January 23,ZANIS— Unknown people last night broke into the office of the Mbala District Social Welfare Officer Fredrick Chilambwe and stole a bale of blankets worth K1, 560.00 and a personal jacket.

 

Mr. Chilambwe explained that when the office orderly reported for work in the morning, she found that it had been broken into but no signs of brokage were noticed at the door.

 

He said he wondred how a bbig bale of blankets managed to find its way out of a small window.

 

Mr. Chilambwe said theft at the offices had become rampant as this  was the second time unknown people had broken into the department of social welfare and stolen blankets designated for vulnerable people within a space of three months.

 

And police suspect that a young person could have been used to go inside after breaking the window panes to fish out the blankets and the officer’s jacket which was left hanging on the chair.

 

In the recent past, unknown people have been breaking window panes at a number of government buildings which include ZANIS, Forestry, Community Development and Social Welfare.

 

The matter has been reported to police.
