A 51-YEAR-OLD fisherman of Chief Chinuka’s area in Chipata has been murdered and dumped in a stream, Eastern Province commissioner of police Grace Chipalila has confirmed
Ms Chipalila said in an interview yesterday that Mangani Zulu, 51, was murdered by unknown people over the weekend and his body parts dumped in a stream.
She said police suspect that Mr Zulu was fishing when he was murdered.
“Police received a report of suspected murder on Saturday (January 18) involving Mr Mangani Zulu who was found with a cut on his left eye,” Ms Chipalila said.
She said the body was found floating in the stream by two boys who reported the matter to police.
Ms Chipalila said police rushed to the scene and discovered that the body had a deep cut on the left eye after examining it.
She said police suspect foul play and have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Ms Chipalila said the body is in Chipata General Hospital mortuary.
