A TANZANIAN man is alleged to have slipped off his girlfriend’s bosom to sneak in her friend’s bedroom next door and raped her.

Abrahim Katunga, aged 25, of house number 321 Musasani Posta Township, Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania in the company of his girlfriend visited an officer in the Office of President in Chembe District of Luapula Province.

It is alleged that as the visitors and the host retired to sleep, Katunga left his girlfriend asleep and sneaked into the host’s bedroom around 03:00 hours where he raped her.

The victim later phoned the police who apprehended Katunga and took both to Chembe Rural Health Centre for examination where rape was confirmed.

The hospital further revealed that Katunga was found to be HIV positive while the victim was negative.

Luapula Province Police Commissioner Malcom Mulenga confirmed the report. He said Katunga was arrested, charged with the subject offence of rape and would appear in court this week.

“Chembe Police received a report of rape and we arrested the suspect Abrahim Katunga, aged 25, of Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania.

“Both were examined at Chembe Rural Health Centre where rape was confirmed,” said Mr Mulenga.
