LECTURERS at Mulungushi University in Kabwe have withdrawn their labour and this has affected lectures for distance education students currently under residential school at the main campus.
The lecturers yesterday went on go slow following a salary increment impasse with management.
The go slow angered students who stormed the vice-chancellors office demanding to be addressed over the situation.
Students talked to by the Times of Zambia complained that despite paying the tuition fees, lecturers failed to show up for lectures.
Mulungushi University vice-chancellor professor Helicey Ng’ambi later addressed the students over the matter.
Prof Ng’ambi said the go slow was illegal as management was still holding talks with the union.
She said it was unfortunate that lecturers had decided to use students to air their grievances instead of reasoning with management.
Prof  Ng’ambi said the lecturers were demanding an unreasonable salary increment at short notice.
‘It is sad that the lecturers have decided to go on an illegal go slow without giving management enough time to address their needs,” Prof Ng’ambi said.
She has since called on students to stay calm as management and lecturers hold talks to resolve the issue.
