MTN Zambia has become the first Mobile Telecommunications solutions provider in Zambia to commercially launch Long Term Evolution (LTE).
Long Term Evolution technology (LTE)is the latest technology in the world with the fastest internet speeds, giving customers the most seamless experience in data services.
Popularly known as 4G, LTE is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data.
In a statement issued in Lusaka today, MTN Zambia Chief Executive Officer Abdul Ismail says the commercial launch of 4G LTE is part of a bigger network transformation plan that MTN has been undertaking over the past few years in order to give its customers World-class services mobile broadband services.
Mr Ismail says the launch of 4G LTE represents a major stride in mobile connectivity capabilities in Zambia.
He explains that the service offers almost triple the speed of any existing mobile connection available commercially in Zambia.
Mr Ismail adds that the launch further emphasizes MTN’s commitment in not just transforming its own network but also the businesses of its Corporate and SME customers while contributing positively to the overall development of the ICT sector in Zambia.
And MTN Zambia Chief Marketing Officer Clement Asante said the new technology gives customers an opportunity to enjoy unparalleled internet and data experience such as superfast download and upload of files, seamless streaming of music videos and HD movies.
He says today’s launch of 4G LTE is the first phase which covers Lusaka, Kitwe, Ndola and Livingstone.
