Kafue, January 15th 2013, ZANIS………..More than 100 Kafue residents have been displaced by the owner of a farm which they have occupied for more than 40 years.
Meanwhile, the displacement of the residents from farm 456 has concerned government.
Kafue Member of Parliament Obvious Mwaliteta says the displacement of more than hundred Kafue residents from farm 456 in Lukolongo ward is a concern to the government.
Mr. Mwaliteta said this when he inspected farm 456 in Lukolongo ward in Kafue district.
He reiterated that the PF government is a pro-poor government and will therefore ensure that land in the district is legally and equally allocated to the people regardless of their status.
Mr. Mwaliteta said the local people are allegedly being exploited by unscrupulous people who are taking advantage of them.
He said the local people have been on the farm for more than 40 years.
Mr. Mwaliteta has since called for a stakeholders meeting to settle the land issue.
The farm in question is currently housing a police ranch and other private land owners.
