Former President Rupiah Banda’s son Andrew has dismissed assertions that he has been tasked by his father to broker a deal between the two major parties the MMD and UPND.

Mr Banda says at no time has he ever sat down with his father to scheme for his political come back.

He has however stated that it is the right of any Zambian to call for a strong opposition front if the government of the day is not doing the right thing.

Mr Banda has since stated that he will go ahead and consult MMD president Nevers Mumba, UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema and ADD Leader Charles Milupi on the possibility of the three parties forming a pact, now that he has been put on the spot.

He says this will be the starting point for pushing for a strong united opposition front.

And Mr Banda advised Patriotic Front Eastern province Chairperson Lameck Mangani to desist from attacking his father.
