–The Zambia Rugby Football Union (ZRFU) has with immediate effect changed its name to Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU).

ZRU General Secretary, Francis Chitambo, has disclosed that the changes were approved during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was held last year in Chingola.

He said the new changes would now be incorporated in the new constitution and officially implemented after the forth-coming AGM set for February 1, 2014, in Chililabombwe.

Chitambo told ZANIS Sports in Lusaka that delegates at the Chingola AGM approved the dropping of the name Football from the official association’s name.

He said before the AGM is held, the ZRU will hold a council meeting to adopt amendments to the new constitution which were passed last year at the AGM in Chingola.

Chitambo said among the amendments to be considered are the increasing of the term of office for executive members from two years to four years.

He said new office bearers for the ZRU will also be elected into office at the forthcoming AGM set for Konkola Rugby Club in Chilibombwe on the Copperbelt.
