Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General Paul Mihova is impressed with the collaborative work being done between Mukanda Nkunda military camp and the local authority in Zambezi district of North-western province.

Lt. General Mihova says this was in line  with  Zambia army’s main objective is to uphold peace in the country .

He urged the Mukanda Nkunda royal establishment not to hastate informing his office about any collaborative need that may arise.

ZANIS reports that the Army Commander said this when he paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Ishindi at his Mukanda Nkunda palace during his tour of Zambezi district.

He said any officers found misbehaving will be disciplined by the relevant authorities.

Speaking at the same occasion, Senior Chief Ishindi appealed to the army commander to consider legalizing the two border posts in the district which include Kayenge on the west bank and Katontu on the east bank because they are porous.

He said the porous state of the two border posts between Zambia and Angola forces Zambians cross into Angola in search of game meat and honey while Angolans cross into Zambia in search of medical services especially at Nyakuleng’a health centre in the east bank.

Earlier, Lt. General Mihova called on Zambezi District Commissioner, Catherine Mukuma.

He commended her administration for taking good care of the army officers in the district and said the Zambia army takes issues of security in the country hence deploying troops to the district.

Ms Mukuma applauded government through the ministry of defence for airlifting relief maize to Zambezi west which is inaccessible by road during rainy season.

She appealed to government to consider constructing permanent bridges on Kashiji and Muyembe rivers and permanent roads on the west bank, saying the existing ones are merely ox-cart routes.
