The Global Congress of Students Unions (GLOCOSU) says the argument to re-establish the Industrial Development Corporation (INDECO) that it will fail just because it failed in the Kaunda regime should be ignored.

GLOCOSU Secretary General, Kelvin Chitala, has told QFM News in an interview that the objective to re-establish INDECO is not to replace a free market economy with the State controlled economy.

Mr. Chitala adds that the idea is rather to stir investments into areas that the private sectors would ordinarily be reluctant to invest in but which are vital for the purpose of stimulating the broader economy as it is a basic call of human decency.

Mr. Chitala states that the fundamental principle behind these are for the government to allocate some of the funds into either setting up new companies all together or buy shares into existing companies.

He furthermore adds that jobs will only be created through creating means of production and the country needs good and skillful individuals to turn this country around.

The GLOCOSU Secretary General notes that Zambia has more educated people who can do the job at INDECO and of course reasons that led to the failure of INDECO have been outlined including lessons learnt therefore, there is no reason to fear that it is bound to fail.
