23 year old man axed in Nchelenge District

Nchelenge,  January 11th, 2014, ZANS —  A 23 year old man of Mwense District in Luapula Province has been axed to death for allegedly having a  love affair with a married woman.

 

ZANIS reports Luapula Province Commissioner of Police Malcolm Mulenga confirmed the development in a statement released in Mansa today.

 

Mr. Mulenga identified the victim as Collins Mpanta of Kabuta village in chief Mutipula’s chiefdom and said the incident occurred around 22:00 hours last night.

 

He said the assailant used the axe that inflicted damage to the diaphragm of the deceased before he left him for the dead.

 

The Provincial Police Chief said the body of the deceased is laying at the Mansa General Hospital mortuary waiting for post mortem.

 

He identified the blood thirsty husband to the adulterous woman as Claris Kennedy Sikapizya of Kasompe village in chief Mutipula’s area.

 

He further said the murderer husband is on the run and police in the area have since launched a manhunt.

 

In another related development a 24 year old man of Chipili District in Luapula Province drowned to death in Luongo dam yesterday.

 

The Commissioner of Police for Luapula Province Malcolm Mulenga confirmed the development to ZANIS in a statement released in Mansa today.

 

Mr. Mulenga said the incident happened yesterday around 10: 00 hours and identified the deceased as Mwape Chinika of chief Mutipula’s chiefdom.

 

He said Mwape who was in the company of Musonda Chinika aged 18 met his fate when the dugout canoe they were in was hit with a strong wind in the middle of the dam that caused the canoe to capsize and sink.

 

Commissioner Mulenga however said Musonda Chinika was aided to safety by a fisherman.

 

He disclosed that the duo was crossing the Luongo dam from Chimbalanga village to Kalebwa village when the accident occurred.

 

Mr. Mulenga said police officers in the area have visited the scene of the accident and suspect no foul play, and has advised the community to bury the corpse at a marked grave.
