—Kafue District Commissioner, Grace Ngulube, says government is committed to fostering development and will not tolerate any delays in completion of projects in the district and the country as a whole.

Ms Ngulube said the Patriotic Front government and the leadership of President Michael Chilufya Sata would like the people of Zambia and Kafue district in particular to appreciate the services being provided by government.

Ms Ngulube said this when she inspected progress on the Chiawa-Chirundu road in Kafue district after receiving reports that the contractor, China Henan, had not been operating for three days because Zambeef denied the contractor to fetch gravel for backfilling from their site.

She has since intervened in the matter which she confirmed to have
been caused by lack of communication among the contractor, headman Mafungautsi and Zambeef.

Ms Ngulube has since ordered the contractor to continue with the backfilling
since the matter had been resolved.

The District Commissioner said when completed, the bridge would benefit
not only the people of Chiawa and Chirundu but also the local companies and the country at large.

And China Henan contractor, Ji Guohua, says the bridge is earmarked to be handed over to government by April 2014.

Mr Gouhua cited the backfilling of the A-Five abutment which is 2.5m
high and putting gravel on 800m stretch on both sides of the road.
