Consult labour office on employment matters, companies urged

1

Kafue district Labour Officer, Alfred Kanjuye has called on companies in the district to consult his office on issues concerning wages and salaries in order to create harmony and stability in the industry.

Mr Kanjuye advised the employees and employers to sign agreements and observe the minimum wage.

Mr Kanjuye said this when he facilitated payments for about 70 Kafue residents who did the back filling of a 4km stretch of a cable trench contracted by the Cable Network Solution.

He noted that there was communication breakdown between the management of Cable Network Solutions in Lusaka and the supervisor in Kafue that led to disagreements on the payments.

Mr Kanjuye further said the workers mostly women stormed his officer to register their grievances which has since been attended to.

  1. I’ve been working in a private sector since 2005 and only got a contract in 2010 to 2013.( not yet got my graduity for this period as well) How will my graduity be calculated between 2005 and 2010. Will it be based on the current basic or the old basic?
