Mayuka is believed to be back at his English Premiership Southampton

Mayuka, who is on a season-loan deal at struggling French side FC Sochaux, missed weekend 2-1 win over Rennes due to injury.

According to Southampton, the forceful Zambian striker is presently in England with his team having sustained an injury last week when his Sochaux played against Nice in a Cup game in which he played the full 90 minutes.

But Southampton could neither state whether Mayuka’s presence in England was to be looked at by the club doctors or fashioning a move back to the Saints ahead of January transfer window which opens next week.

The Saints’ twitter page said “Emmanuel Mayuka has returned to Southampton from Sochaux after getting an ankle injury on Wednesday against Nice”.

Mayuka, who signed for Southampton at the start of last season, has not had the best of times in England where he has been restricted to substitute appearances and ended the season without a goal.

He however, recorded a goal for Southampton at the beginning of this season but was quickly sent out on loan to the French side which is now managed by former Zambia trainer Hervé Renard in September.

Mayuka has found good form since changing base and has netted three times in his nine appearances for the club.

But this short stint at Sochaux has been dogged by injuries with the first coming when played in the 2-2 against Monaco and sustained had a muscle contraction in his thigh.

He, however, Wednesday last week when playing Nice, Mayuka played the 90 minutes and is reported to have got injured.
