Police say they are yet to confirm claims for a K50,000 reward by people who say they provided information that helped the Zambia Army capture the infamous Mailoni brothers of Luano Valley in Central Province.
Police spokesperson Charity Chanda said the police will verify any claims before it gives out the K50,000 that was set as cash reward for such information.
Ms Chanda said in an interview yesterday that the reward is valid, adding that it will only be given out once claims are authenticated.
The Police had pledged to pay K50,000 to anyone with information that would lead to the capture of the three notorious brothers who terrorised the valley for years before meeting their fate six months ago.
Three men of Luano valley have claimed they helped the army track and identify the Mailoni brothers and so they should get the reward.
The men have approached their ward councillor Bedford Katiti to facilitate an audience with Inspector-General of Police Stella Libongani for the cash reward.
