NDOLA lawyer Gershom Mubanga, who is facing charges of uttering false documents and procuring execution of documents by false pretences, has appeared in the Ndola magistrate’s court.

Major Mubanga, however, could not take plea yesterday as his lawyers from ECB Legal Practitioners were reported to be attending to a matter in the Ndola High Court.

The matter has since been adjourned to January 9, 2014 when Maj Mubanga, 64, of 4283 Tanzania Road in Northrise, is expected to take plea.

Maj Mubanga was arrested on Monday this week for allegedly uttering false documents contrary to Section 352 of the Laws of Zambia and procuring execution of documents by false pretences contrary to Section 354 of the Laws of Zambia.

He was alleged to have transferred property belonging to Zambia Legion Registered Trustee, the owners of Belcel Properties in Ndola and Chingola, fraudulently to the Ex-Servicemen League of Zambia where he was the Copperbelt Province chairperson.
