Kabompo district council will use local resources to open up the blocked township road drainage system which is now on the verge of collapse.

This was revealed in the Kabompo turnaround initiative (KAPAI) report made available to ZANIS in the district today.

The report said the council will deploy its employees to unblock the drainage system which causes the roads to be flooded with rain water making movement of vehicles difficulty during heavy downpours.

The report however did not state how much will be spent on unblocking the township drainage system.

When contacted Kabompo district council secretary Francis Nkhoma said he was not be in a position to reveal how much the council will spend on unblocking the township road drainage system.

He said the council workers will however be deployed with hoes, shovels and picks to unblock 20 culverts which cause the roads to be flooded .

MR Nkhoma revealed that upgrading of 5.7 kilo metres of the township roads to bituminous standards will commence in the dry season next year.
