Crocodile terrorizing Mitete villagers

Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA)  officers in western province have been dispatched to Kakulunda area in Mitete district to hunt a notorious crocodile suspected to be terrorizing people in the area.

Mitete district commissioner Teddy Chimbinde has confirmed this development to ZANIS in Lukulu in an interview today saying that many lives have been lost nearly every week.

He disclosed that a female crocodile was killed last saturday by ZAWA officers in order to reduce the number of the reptiles but one person is suspected to have been killed by another crocodile yesterday.

Mr Chimbinde said this has prompted the officers to be sent back to the district adding that this time around the officers will camp in the area so that they kill the right reptile.

The deceased whose identity is not yet known is said to have been using a canoe with his wife when he met his fate while the wife escaped  unharmed.
