The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested two Chinese Nationals for Corrupt Practices involving K5,200.00.

ACC public relations Manager Timothy Moono says the two have been charged and arrested separately contrary to Section 19(1) and 19(2) respectively as read with section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Mr Moono says in the first matter, Wenjun Zhao, 27, an engineer for Sinozocha Resource Investments in Mufumbwe District has been charged and arrested with one count of Corrupt Practices with Public Officer.

He says details are that on 10th July, 2013 Zhao corruptly gave K200.00 cash gratification to Ronald Mulenga, an officer of Road Transport and Safety Agency (RATSA) as an inducement or reward in order for Mulenga to free Mutanda Wisamba, a driver at his company Sinozocha Resource Investments.

Mr Moono says Mr Mulenga had earlier apprehended Mutanda Wisamba for transporting 9 by 20 litres of diesel in a light canter truck registration number ALF 1126 without a license for transporting dangerous goods.

He says in the second matter, Liu Aoran, 25, a business man of Chipata District has been charged and arrested with one count of Corrupt Practices with Public Officer.

Mr Moono says details are that between 25th November 2013 and 29th November 2013 Aoran corruptly gave K5,000.00 cash gratification as an inducement or reward to Ian Chimbwali, an officer of the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in order for him to release a Volvo truck registration number ALH 3578 and trailer registration number ALE 5176 which was carrying Mukula logs and allow the truck to allegedly cross into the Republic of Malawi through Mwami border for onward export to China.

Both Zhao and Aoran have since been released on Bond and will appear on 9th December, 2013 and 17th December, 2013 and respectively.
