A coalition of three opposition political parties dubbed National Coalition of Political Parties (NACOPA) has been officially launched in Lusaka today (Nov 24th).

The political that form the coalition include the opposition Zambia Direct Democracy Movement (ZDDM), opposition Zambia Development Conference (ZADECO) and the opposition National Revolution Party (NRP).

The launch of NACOPA, whose declared purpose is to remain opposed to the current trend of politics in Zambia, follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the three political parties have signed today the 24th of November.

Speaking at the official launch of the coalition, NACOPA interim chairperson Edwin Sakala has disclosed that the agenda of his organization is to introduce a new political order where national interest come first before anything else.

Mr. Sakala, who is also ZDDM president, says the agenda of NACOPA is also to free Zambia from vindictiveness and promote brotherhood in the country’s political arena.

Mr. Sakala says to this effect his organization wants President Michael Sata to put in place a mechanism which will ensure that what the people of Zambia reaffirmed and endorsed in the submissions they made in various constitutional making conference in the draft constitution come out soon.

Mr. Sakala says NACOPA also wants President Sata to ensure that people of Zambia get a constitution that will stand a test of time.

He says his organization further wants President Sata to advise his political party, the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) to stop looking at the opposition political parties as it enemies as all political parties in the country stand for one common good.
