The opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) has described its coming second in the Mansa by-election as a testimony of the appreciation of its message it gave to the people of Mansa during its campaigns.

FDD National Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza also notes that party’s beating of the MMD and the UPND clearly imply that the 2016 general will be between FDD and the ruling Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr. Mwanza says this is possible as it has been already demonstrated in Manda Mansa where his party had been to campaign for only two months but turn out to be second in an election where even bigger political parties had such as the UPND and the MMD has contested.

Mr. Mwanza says it could have been a different story if the FDD had been in the area longer than the two months it went there to campaign.

Mr. Mwanza adds this is also why his party has taken the Mansa by-election as the launch card for the 2016 and that this is also the reason why the FDD has set its head office Luapula province.

He has since thanked the people of Mansa for the votes they gave FDD in the just ended by-election.
