GREEN Eagles and National Assembly have won promotion back to the Super Division after winning their respective FAZ Division One Week 32 games played at the weekend.
Eagles capped their promotion with a 5-0 hammering of Kalomo Jetters in the southern zone as a 2-all draw by Nakambala Leopards at third placed Lusaka City Council (LCC) was not enough to see them back in the Super Division.
This is also because LCC have petitioned the 1-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Livingstone Pirates claiming an ineligible player was used in that Week 29 fixture. Nakambala are on 63 points, while LCC are on 57 points.
Eagles lead the south league on 67 points after the FAZ Disciplinary Committee awarded the Choma-based side three points for the abandoned match against Paramilitary and are now favourites to win the title as they await the committee to pass another ruling this around concerning the match against Lusaka Tigers.
On the field of play, Paul Malama scored a hat-trick with Chrispin Chongo netting in a brace as Eagles ran riot to go top of the league to open up a four-point lead over Nakambala.
Chongo opened the floodgates in the 15th minute before Malama doubled the lead in the 34th minute just for the latter to score his second four minutes later.
There was no stopping Eagles as Malama registered his hat-trick with goals coming in the 42nd and 64th minutes to send Jetters down to the FAZ Division Three league on 25 points from the 32 games played.
LCC Nakambala
Nakambala Leopards will have to wait for another week to confirm promotion back to the Super Division after playing a draw against LCC in a tough match. Nakambala took the lead through a third minute goal by Friday Konga just for Stanley ‘Giggs’ Banda to level matters in the 31st minute.
LCC then took the lead for the first time in the 65th minute through Emmanuel Enuma but Nakambala fought back with a 75th minute goal by Danny Masumba for the teams to share spoils in an evenly contested affair.
Ndola 0 Assembly 2
While Assembly celebrated a quick return to the elite league yesterday, their Division One North challengers Indeni were made to wait for another week after third-placed Kansanshi Dynamos choked up a narrow but vital 1-0 win over relegated Bresmar United.
Indeni 2 Chindwin 1
Misheck Phiri scored twice in the 1st and 42nd minutes to inspire his side to the all-important victory that saw them draw closer to promotion as Kansanshi’s Kapson Kaseba’s solitary goal against Bresmer delayed a promotion party for the Ndola team.
A win moved the Ndola outfit to 62 points, four behind Assembly with a game in hand against FQMO and they only need a point from their remaining two games to get promotion.
