Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka today, Mr Banda says the directive from President Michael Sata is clear that there should be no parallel structures in the party, stating that party positions should be occupied by those who were legitimately elected.
Mr. Banda says every genuine member of the party is expected to respect the directive from the president, adding that committed members of the party should stop attending meetings called by Mr. Chikwelete.
He adds that Mr. Chikwelete has exhibited lawlessness that has never been witnessed in the history of the country.
Mr. Banda has also advised the Police to be profession in executing their duties and avoid taking sides.
He states that Mr. Chikwelete and his team should be charged with criminal trespass and impunity.
He has further challenged the media to be objective in their reporting and report the message as exactly delivered.
But the Robert Chikwelete led Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka District interim leadership has vowed to remain in office despite being belittled in today’s Edition of the Post newspaper by republican and party vice president Guy Scott.
Speaking at a separate press briefing held at the PF Lusaka District office, Mr. Chikwelete has maintained that his group will continue holding their positions because they draw their authority from the Party and republican president Michael Sata.
Mr. Chikwelete has reminded the vice President and the nation that President Sata confirmed him and his committee as the legitimate leadership in an effort to end wrangles in the ruling party.
Mr. Chikwelete says this is why the pro-Kabimba group being led by Goodson Banda should stop masquerading parallel structures.
Mr. Chikwelete has warned that his interim executive committee will counter react to any provocation by the Goodson Banda led group.
