Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has dismissed speculation suggesting that the Central Committee has dropped him from the position of party Chief Executive officer.
Mr. Kabimba who is also Justice Minister has disclosed to Qfm in a telephone interview that the purported Central Committee meeting which is said to have taken place yesterday to relieve him of his duties as Secretary General is imaginary.
He adds that as party Chief Executive officer he is also not aware of any decision made by the Central Committee to replace Lusaka District Chairperson Goodson Banda with Chawama constituency chairman Robert Chikwelete who is said be seating in until elections are held for new office bearers.
And Mr. Kabimba has refuted media reports suggesting that the media briefing he was scheduled to address this morning at his ministerial office was cancelled because a group of cadres allegedly sponsored by Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba planned to interrupt the briefing in a violent way.
Mr. Kabimba says media briefing was cancelled for totally different reasons.
Meanwhile sources within the Patriotic Front hierarchy have warned that the ruling party risks collapsing if President Micheal Sata does not immediately remove party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba from his powerful position.
The visibly annoyed sources have told QFM that failure by the president to act swiftly against Mr Kabimba will spell doom for the ruling party.
The sources who have accused Mr Kabimba of betraying the president have also blamed him for the divisions in the party.
They have further alleged that Mr. Kabimba has become too arrogant and sulky to listen to other party members, which has led to the majority of the party members calling for his removal.
The sources add that the majority of the party membership is behind President Michael Sata and want him to go for a second.
They have further accused PF Secretary General of threatening some party members who have been given jobs with dismissals if they do not rally behind him.
