LOCAL and foreign investors should help exploit the tourism sites in Sinazongwe District which have remained untapped for some time now, area District Commissioner Dodo Sindaza has said.
Mr Sindaza said the district had a lot of tourism sites which he said had remained untapped for a long time and called for both foreign and local investors to consider putting up resorts.
He said this would result in the creation of a lot of opportunities in terms of business and employment especially for the young people in the area who were unemployed.
“The district has a lot of potential for tourism, only that we have not yet fully exploited the tourism sites to attract a lot of tourists,” Mr Sindaza said.
Mr Sindaza said the district has massive water which if further exploited could attract a lot of tourists for canoe paddling and other activities.
He said the area was endowed with more than 30 islands which would create a lot of opportunities.
Mr Sindaza said once the road network was worked on it was expected to open up the area to more economic activities.
“As you are aware Government has embarked on an ambitious programme to construct roads countrywide which will open up a lot of opportunities for tourism.
“Government is facilitating access to tourism sites and tourism investors should take advantage of this to invest in most of the sites,” he said.
Mr Sindaza also said Government was in the process of establishing Multi Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ) in Sinazongwe to expose the economic potential the district.
