No selection headache for Ghana coach Appiah

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah does not fear to take big decisions regarding his starting line-up for Friday’s all-important 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.

The ex-Ghana captain faces a big selection headache with the return of marquee players Kevin-Prince Boateng, Michael Essien and Andre Ayew.

Opinions are divided as to whether the returning will be handed automatic places to the team, meaning regulars Mubarak Wakaso, Mohammed Rabiu and Christian Atsu will be sacrificed.

But Appiah expects the players to be professionals when he names the roster for the match.

“It’s good that we get all our best players. Hopefully we will see how it goes,” Appiah told the Ghana FA website.

“They are all working so well. When you speak to them, they all know how important this game is, for them and the nation as well.

“They’ve been made aware of being professional on and off the field.

“The most important thing is having good players on your bench and whoever starts in immaterial.”
