2’ – Both teams still sizing each other up and the action is restricted to midfield.
4’ – Alex Ngonga fouled by Nelson Mazivisa, free kick quickly taken by Zambia but Zimbabwe clear the danger.
6’ – Ngonga takes a long free kick from the halfway line hoping to catch out George Chigoya but the Zimbabwe goalkeeper reads the situation and picks the ball from the air.
8’ – Mazivisa finds space in the box with the ball but Bronson Chama reacts quick to clear the danger.
10’ – Ngonga pumps speculative cross into the box but it goes out for goalkick.
12’ – Festus Mbewe miscues shot infront of goal after connecting with a cross from Jimmy Chisenga.
15’ – Bornwell Mwape fires shot onto the upright after a flowing move involving Bruce Musakanya and Fackson Kampumbu.
17’ – Play brief stopped while medics attend to Zimbabwe midfielder Donald Ngoma.
18’ – Play resumes and Ngoma is fine and back on the pitch as Zambia push forward.
20’ – Ngoma races down on the right flank, crosses the ball but no one there in a Zimbabwe shirt to meet it.

24’ – Ali Sadiki takes a free kick for Zimbabwe but effort sailsa meter wide of upright.
27’ – Nelson Mazivisa is having a hard time trying to escape markers with at least three Zambian defenders tailing him.
31’ – Zambia goalkeeper Danny Munyau has had little to do so far with Donald Ngoma’s strike in the 20th minute the only tangiable shot on target from the visitors so far from Zimbabwe.
35’ – Mazivisa races down on the left wing but Jimmy Chisenga easily reads the danger and steals the ball from the Zimbabwe danger man and hoofs it forward.
37’ – Devon Chafa takes a casual shot from an acute angle but ball goes out for touch.
41’ – Games has lost some life and both teams have produced little in terms of goal mouth action with four minutes left before the break.
42’ – Roderick Kabwe shoots from edge of the box but Chigoya saves ball.
43’ – Chigoya and Ngonga collide in the box. Ngonga is up but Chigoya is still down as play is halted for the Zimbabwe goalkeeper to get treatment.
