NATIONAL team coach Herve Renard says his team has to finish the job of qualifying for the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final tournament by beating Zimbabwe in the final round return match encounter at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.
Renard said in an interview in Lusaka that the 0-0 result against Zimbabwe in Harare was a good one but Zambia should finish the job on Saturday.
The coach, who was speaking after a morning training session at Sunset Ground in Lusaka yesterday, said qualifying for CHAN will be good for Zambia.
The continental championship for players playing in domestic leagues in Africa will be hosted by South Africa in January.
“We have to qualify and so far everything is perfect.  If we get qualification, it will be very good,” he said.
The team, which returned from Zimbabwe on Monday night, regrouped in Lusaka yesterday and had a training session at Sunset before shifting camp to Ndola later in the afternoon.
The Chipolopolo will be based in Ndola until Saturday, when they host the Warriors in a deciding match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
The team is carrying an advantage over Zimbabwe after a barren draw in Harare last Sunday.
And Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Erick Mwanza said the association will ensure the team is given all the support it needs for the match.
He said FAZ attaches great importance to the match because it will decide which team qualifies for CHAN.
Mwanza called on soccer fans to turn up in large numbers and give the team massive support.
“Like we have said before, the soccer fan is a 12th player. We are appealing to the soccer fans to take advantage of the reduced gate charges and come in numbers to support their team,” he said.
The charges are K20 and K150.
