A 48-YEAR-OLD police officer of Kansenshi police station in Ndola on Monday collapsed at the Ndola Civic Centre where he had gone to discuss a land dispute and died later at Ndola Central Hospital.
Ndola City Council public relations officer Hamson Chisenga and Ndola Central Hospital public relations officer Sheona Chalimbana yesterday confirmed the incident which happened around 12:00 hours.
The policeman has been identified as chief inspector Macdonald Mutobo of house number D-4 Kansenshi Police Compound.
Mr Chisenga said Mr Mutobo collapsed at the buildings department where he had gone to pick up council officers to help him resolve a dispute concerning his plot in Lubuto.
“Mr Mutobo came to the council to seek help to resolve a land dispute in Lubuto where he wanted to build a house but he collapsed in the process,” Mr Chisenga said.
Mr Chisenga said council officers took Mr Mutobo to Ndola Central Hospital for treatment.
But Ms Chalimbana said Mr Mutobo was in a critical condition when he was taken to the hospital as his blood pressure had shot up.
“I can confirm that Mr Mutobo died shortly after being brought in due to high blood pressure. His BP was 230/160 when he was brought to the hospital,” Ms Chalimbana said.
The body is lying in the Ndola Central Hospital mortuary.
