—The Kalulushi Municipal Council has bemoaned the increase in number of encroachments on the piece of land that has been earmarked for developmental projects in Chambishi township.

ZANIS Kalulushi reports that Kalulushi Municipal Council Director of Engineering Katayi Kamboyi said the council was failing to deliver quality services to the people as some pieces of land that had been earmarked for developmental projects had been encroached on.

Ms Kamboyi said most road funders were failing to do the roads in Chambishi as the community had encroached onto the roads.

She disclosed this during the District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) meeting held at Work Right in Kalulushi today.

Ms Kambyi noted that if the trend continued it would lead to the failure by the council to deliver the most needed services to the residents, despite all its efforts that it puts in.

And speaking at the same function, District Medical Officer Liyungu Sichimba urged the people of Chambishi not to build houses behind Chambishi government clinic as the area had been given to the ministry of health to construct a general hospital.

Dr Sichimba explained that the clinic in Chambishi was not big enough to accommodate the growing population in the area and that most referrals were taken to Kitwe which was very inconveniencing on the part of the patients.

Meanwhile, District Administrative Officer (DAO) Isidore Tebulu has called on the community and the council to ensure that they do correct things during land allocation.

"As the Council and the community when we see people doing illegal construction, let’s stop them if we want to see development in our district," said Mr Tebulu.
