The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has postponed the Nkumbi Ward local government by-election in Mkushi following the death of Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Mbambiko Amos.
Mr Mbambiko died on Friday 12th July 2013 and was put to rest on 14th July 2013.
The by election in Nkumbi Ward Number 4005 of Mkushi district was scheduled to take place on July 25th 2013 but has been postponed to a date to be announced by the commission.
The ECZ will further conduct fresh nominations in Nkumbi ward on a date to be announced.
This is contained in a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by ECZ acting public relations manager Sylvia Bwalya.
Ms Bwalya said that candidates who were validly nominated in the said ward on 27th June 2013 will not be required to pay the nomination fees.
