———-A 40 year old woman of Pensulo village in Serenje District today died on the spot after she was hit by a vehicle on the great North road.
ZANIS reports that Central province Deputy Commissioner of police Edwin Bwaanga confirmed the development in an interview, today.
Mr. Bwaanga has identified the deceased as Yvonne Saka 40 of Pensulo Village about 40 kilometres North of Serenje Boma.
He said the incident happened in Pensulo village this morning as Ms Saka was trying to cross the road.
He said Ms Saka’s body is laying in Serenje district hospital Mortuary awaiting burial.
Police have since detained the driver of the vehicle Vincent Zulu 26 of Kuku compound in Lusaka.
“The incident happened around 0:8hrs this morning when Yvonne was trying to cross the road we have also detained the driver of the vehicle that caused the death of Yvonne and impounded the, Ford Ranger motor vehicle registration number ALH 6066 white in colour belonging to NewTech business systems Limited.” Said Mr Bwaanga.
